1. What’s my deal: I’m a fun lovin’ female Pit here to prove that we can all get along.
2. Why I’m cool: Starting next week, I’m the one that’s gonna bring you the coolest dogs and cats around town and give them the interview they deserve.
3. Where to find me: If you don’t see me out with my two dads José & Tim, I’m probably taking a nice nap waiting for you to give me a ring.

"After much begging, pleading and tail-wagging, the guys have finally let me be part of the team!”

Inked Magazine’s Holiday Bash

IMGA0018
On Monday, December 14, 2009 The Five Outsiders were invited to join the red carpet event Inked Magazine’s Holiday Bash. The guys gave back to the community and had a BLAST doing it. We were thrilled to be a part of the event up close and personal. Inked Magazine presented this event at The Blvd in Crash Mansion, 199 Bowery NYC and donated collected toys to the Toys-For-Tots foundation. The magazine staff enjoyed the festivities with Inked & Rock-n-Roll style and toasted the night away with “DJ BAGEL”. Holiday cheer was spread throughout with the help of our “Tattooed Santa Helpers” who passed out complimentary drinks during the two hour OPEN BAR. Live performances included Killcode, Natasha Komis & celebrity dancers. The whole event was hosted by Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard Spyders).

Below is a snippet of the red carpet event with the music of Biohazard.

New Yorkers often eat while on the go, and so there are all kinds of street food in New York. Dirty water dogs, sausages, bagels and pretzels are common street fare. There are also special food carts serving falafel, cupcakes, dumplings, crepes and homemade ice cream.

In the colder months, street carts sell roasted chestnuts. You can see the steam rising from baskets of chestnuts in the cold night air.

José: Cashew Nuts with Chicken
Where: Spice Restaurant 199 8th Avenue (between 20th &21st) Manhattan
Cost:
$8.25
With a gazillion new Thai restaurants that have opened up in the past five years, let me save you some time. I’ve been coming to this joint for years and Spice never disappoints. If you want to steer away from the traditional Pad Thai, you should dive into their Cashew Nuts medley with chicken (or any choice of meat or veggies). Here’s the kicker: you get a free appetizer! Anything from yummy shrimp fritters to an Asian Caesar salad, you can’t beat the price or the food.

Deena's Artist Exposed

Orink

Deena: “I can check a life-long wish: fulfilled ("check").  I have always imagined that a man would one day draw me.  I pictured it slightly different, but this was surely closer than anything I ever would think.  I wanted it on the train, and it was.  It was a man, which I had hoped.  It was a drawing, and it was of me.   But I'll pretend to leave out that he had already drawn another person before me, and I knew it was happening when it was my turn.  It is his art done live, and regardless of the actual occurrence, it made my year (or longer)!"

THE ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
"Enjoy"

Girls_2
There is a side of my work that is intuitive. I absorb and then I react by putting down my vision on paper as a preliminary drawing…that’s always present.  In the process I think about what the end result should be.  Most times it is about simplicity in communication.  I love directness combined with poetry.  I love clever people and ideas.  However, sometimes it is about challenging those ideals for me--looking at the world and my mind from a different angle.  So sometimes I switch up media and go to photography or writing,  lately through my blog.   I am combining elements.  When I work commercially it is all about the clien'ts dream, and I enjoy it even if it gets a bit tedious.   I feel I grow with every job.  I don’t like living in a bubble of always doing what I want.  I try to make it an exchange or a collaboration.

Reiki

In the past few weeks I have spoken of a few modalities and one of the first practices I learnt was Reiki. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy".

Reiki is an ancient, gentle, hands-on Energy Balancing Therapy.  The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) describes a system for tapping into the Universal Life Force, sometimes referred to as Chi or Qi (pronounced Chee) the energy that creates and sustains all life.  Infinite and unlimited, chi is the essence that gives vitality to form.READ MORE...
